I’m pleased to share Edward Jones’ most recent Purpose, Inclusion and Citizenship Report that highlights the ways our firm is making a positive impact in the lives of our clients, colleagues and communities. As a 30-year-old firm in Canada, we are supported by the experience and legacy of a 102-year-old U.S. enterprise. Edward Jones is a firm with sharp vision, strong values, and deep commitment to those we serve.
Across Canada, hundreds of Edward Jones advisors and associates take our role as a respected corporate citizen and community partner very seriously. Year-after-year they volunteer, sponsor, donate, and play an active role in community initiatives that are important to clients, family members and fellow associates.
What excites us most about the business we are in, is knowing there are so many opportunities to make a meaningful difference – often generational. For us, the foundation of how we bring our Purpose to life starts with building deep, personal, trusted relationships with our clients to understand what's most important to them. Helping them define their life goals, not just their financial ones. We fundamentally believe that life is about so much more than just money. It’s this approach that continues to set us apart and shapes the comprehensive planning, advice, and solutions we deliver. It’s why we’re proud to tell Canadians “We do money Differently”.
The way we invest in our colleagues and communities is core to what makes our firm’s culture special. Our colleagues want to be here because of the meaningful way we approach serving our clients, and the incredible opportunity for personal development and success. It’s a big reason why we were named one of the Best Employers in Canada in 2023* – a reputation we’ve maintained for many years.
One of our key strategic focus areas is about improving the colleague experience. This year we expanded the way we invest in our people to lead through change, - reinforcing programs that support resilience, wellbeing, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Our commitment to DEI remains a top priority, including our ongoing efforts to grow the impact of women in the wealth management industry. As part of this effort, we’re proud to partner with Catalyst Inc., a global nonprofit focused on promoting gender equity and workplace inclusion.
Within our communities, we launched our Financial Fitness Program to increase financial literacy, confidence, and acumen in younger Canadians. In 2023 more than 2,000 high school students in 80 high schools across Canada participated in our Financial Fitness Marketplaces program.
I’m proud of how our team rallies in support of the Terry Fox Foundation (TFF). In 2023, we raised over $258,000, contributing to the more than $670,000 we’ve raised for TFF over the past three years. It’s our goal to keep growing our community impact and associate donation matching program in 2024. This includes building upon our established support of Food Banks Canada and United Way.
Client experience is at the centre of everything we do. We ranked the "Highest in Investor Satisfaction with Full-Service Wealth Management Firms", according to the J.D. Power 2023 Canada Full-Service Investor Satisfaction Study, placing us #1 for the 9th time in 11 years**. It is this type of momentum that helped Edward Jones Canada grow to be the second largest independent full-service brokerage in the country. Over the past five years we’ve doubled client assets under care and grown the number of financial advisors from coast-to-coast.
As we look ahead, Edward Jones Canada has big ambitions, and even bigger opportunities to grow our team and deliver comprehensive planning and advice to millions of underserved Canadians.
Throughout this journey, we will live our purpose with intention and strive to grow in ways that make a positive impact in the lives of our clients, colleagues, and communities.
